A few words about us
Since 1986, when FolkTime first opened for business, we have provided socialization services fostering mental health recovery. We have helped each other battle the reality of isolation and the stigmatism that often accompanies a mental health diagnosis. In providing services for over 600 adult men and women, we have placed special emphasis on creating a caring environment that promotes recovery, self-worth and self-sufficiency.
Currently, our services are offered at three locations in the Portland metro area. The Couch Street program is our main location operating through the generosity of the Community of Christ Church. Oregon City and Sandy, OR, also offer programs four days per week. All of the sites are operated by members who are in recovery and have stabilized their condition to the point of accepting a leadership role within FolkTime.
Background Screening Requirement
In order to be a volunteer or employee with FolkTime, an organization affiliated with the National Council of Nonprofits or one of their State Associations, each candidate is required to have a criminal background check completed prior to begining their service.
FolkTime, as a nonprofit organization, typically incurs the cost of all background checks conducted on our volunteers.
