Our Mission

To foster the spiritual maturity of the Orthodox Christian faithful of St. John the Baptist and reach out to inquirers, the unchurched and inactive Orthodox on the west side of metropolitan Portland through worship, the sacramental life, education, philanthropy, hospitality, fellowship and the practice of Christian Stewardship, thereby serving as an instrument in the growth and expansion of the Orthodox Christian Church.

Background Screening Requirement

In order to be a volunteer with St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, an organization affiliated with the National Council of Nonprofits or one of their State Associations, each candidate is required to have a criminal background check completed prior to beginning their service.

St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, as a nonprofit organization, typically incurs the cost of all background checks conducted on our volunteers.
