About Us

Founded in 2008, Urban Sports Academy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides free or low-cost athletic camps for boys and girls (ages 8 through 8th grade) in urban, underserved areas in Oregon. The goal is to give all youth an opportunity to play sports and learn important life lessons in an environment of respect, encouragement and positive reinforcement.Urban Sports Academy’s board members, staff and coaches are all 100 percent volunteer, and the organization relies on donations from friends and family, grants, sponsorships and the support of the community.

Background Screening Requirement

In order to be a volunteer with the Urban Sports Academy or an organization affiliated with the National Council of Nonprofits and the Nonprofit Association of Oregon, each candidate is required to have a criminal background check completed prior to begining their service.
