It's time for increased screening at our Nations universities.

We are hearing it far too often.
Another report about a violent crime on one of our Nations college or university campuses..........and then another...........and another.
An article in "The Background Investigator" Titled "More Colleges And Universities Considering Student Background Checks" spoke to this very topic.
The article states:
"In an effort to help ensure campus safety, higher educational institutions across the country are starting to consider conducting criminal background checks on both applicants and admitted students, according to a recent article on USAToday.com.
The article cites a recent survey by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officer (AACRAO) in which 66% of educational institutions reported having collected criminal record information from students, with the most common method of getting criminal information being self-disclosure questions on applications."
The one issue with the self-disclosure method is that most criminals just won't tell the truth.
The only way to accurately determine if a student has a criminal past is to have a thorough background investigation conducted by a reputable firm.
Traditionally, the majority of background checks conducted by colleges and universities are done on students that will be involved in clinical placement rotations. These rotations are usually associated with programs such as nursing, respiratory therapy and other medical related majors.
It is now time for colleges and universities nationwide to take the next logical step in protecting students, their families and faculty by conducting background checks on ALL accepted and enrolled students.
